Homelessness
We support adults who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness, and who may also need to overcome a dependence on addictive substances.
We do this in a number of ways with:
- Supported housing
- Preventative outreach work
- Resettlement support
Mental health issues have had a long association with stigma and discrimination, therefore, homeless people with mental health problems run the risk to be excluded and falling between the cracks in services. Our service has developed a pathway which promotes social inclusion for homeless people with mental health problems. Our services consider the current levels of need in relation to homelessness and mental health. We respond effectively to promote the well-being of residents. Furthermore, we put our residents in the centre of our services so we work cohesively with homeless services to ensure that they can access the help and support they need in a timely way.
The framework for support for homelessness is as follows:
We support our residents to develop independent living skills and we focuses on 10 areas:
- Motivation and taking responsibility
- Self-care and living skills
- Budgeting skills
- Maintaining social networks and relationships
- Drug and alcohol misuse
- Physical health
- Emotional and mental health
- Managing tenancy and accommodation
- Anti-Social Behaviour
