St Georges Supported Living is a provider of supported housing for homeless people with enduring mental health issues. We provide professional support and practical assistance tailored to meet individual needs. We aim to maintain and improve the quality of life, promote the independence and dignity of all within our care by providing comfortable and secure homes in an environment of support.
Working closely with the people we support, their families, carers and health professionals, we deliver quality services that help people on their pathway to independence.

A person centred approach
We support people to identify their own needs and goals so that we can tailor support to suit them, and work alongside them to develop robust support plans to help them achieve their goals. This person centred approach is designed to equip people to plan and direct their own support more independently in future. We give people increasing responsibility for directing their own support to prepare them for moving on to more independent living.
A psychologically informed way of working
All staff are trained and supervised to work with individuals in a
psychologically-informed way. This means using reflective practice, where staff focus on identifying what is and isn’t effective and incorporating this experience into future approaches. Individuals are supported by staff to understand unhelpful behaviours that may have become deeply entrenched as a way of coping with distress, and to manage them before they escalate or are acted out in destructive ways.
Our mental health practitioners support the wider staff team to understand
psychological processes – difficulties and presentations – which informs
their everyday practice.
A blend of clinical and recovery-focused interventions
We work closely with the clinical teams including Psychiatric consultants, CPNs, Medical doctors, nurses and Social Workers to offer people a combination of recovery-focused and clinical interventions .We liaise with the clinical and recovery teams to support individuals to manage their mental health symptoms, build and practise coping skills and practically apply the knowledge. We help people to develop coping strategies learned and apply them to day-to-day situations in order to promote independent living.
As part of this work, our team supports individuals to reconnect to themselves,
others and their local community. This involves helping them to identify and
grow their strengths and skills, build their resilience and develop personal and
practical resources to self-manage and stay well.
Sharing recovery experiences through genuine and meaningful peer support
We work with MINDS to train and enlighten individuals have a good understanding of mental health symptoms and the option to work with Peer Supporters trained to draw on their own experiences of mental distress to help others towards better mental wellbeing. Genuine and meaningful peer support can help people take huge strides forward in their recovery, and is a key part of our service. We also support and train those using the service to become Peer Supporters themselves if they wish.
Building strong partnerships to ensure a safe transition
We work in close collaboration with statutory and voluntary agencies as well as mental health and forensic services to develop and implement risk management strategies. We have established this partnership to ensure a safe transition for those entering the service from more secure settings.
Preparation for moving on to more independent living
We support our residents to identify move-on options at the start of their trajectory with us and to set goals and timelines for achieving this, which are incorporated into their recovery care plans.
Our Services
St Georges Supported Living provides housing and support services for people aged between 18 and 64 years who are recovering from severe mental distress with drug and alcohol problems to develop independent living skills to be able to function individually in the community.
We offer people person-centred support to develop practical daily living skills, and tools for managing their mental health so that they can self-manage and stay well longer term.
Combined with practical skills development, we work alongside people to develop the skills and confidence to manage their day-to-day mental health, identify triggers and seek for help. We put plans place to deal with a crisis.
A key focus is on supporting people to manage their current tenancy to pay their rent and service charge. We provide support to enable them comply with house rules and the set conditions associated with their tenancy so that they can develop the confidence to maintain a tenancy on their own in future.
We support people to manage general housing issues, benefits and finances and help them apply to be on a housing register.
We support them to identify and engage with training, volunteering and employment opportunities in line with their personal recovery goals. We also help them to develop hobbies and engage in social activities, building informal and personal support networks towards independent living.
Staff are available on site to offer support at several points throughout each day or week, depending on the needs of each individual. This may involve night-time support if necessary.
